Exclusive visit to the compound cultural complex composed of several theater halls. This building built in the neo-baroque style, took as a model the European baroque constructions, so that the carvings and sculptures are very common. It was inaugurated in 1914. The theater was reconstructed inside the beautiful building. It has four white marbled sculpture groups on its main front wall, that represent beneficence, educational, musical and theatrical allegories. These elements are placed in a balance way, so that balconies, windows, cornices, and the proportion of its towers and the unity of its moldings, achieve a very elegant rhythm.

Since 1965 it is the permanent seat of the Cuban National Ballet. From 1985 at Alicia Alonso-prima ballerina’s initiative, the building was named The Great Theater of Havana, with the name Garcia Lorca. From 2013 to 2015 the building was subjected to a capital reparation and it reopened its doors the 1rst of January of 2016 as The Great Theater of Havana “Alicia Alonso” in recognition of her contributions to the Cuban and Universal culture.
